Vintage 1990s Limited Edition Mitsouko 50ml EDT & Silk Chiffon Handkerchief

Vintage 1990s Limited Edition Mitsouko 50ml Eau de Toilette Spray + Silk Chiffon Handkerchief.

Interesting presentation box in cream with "sponge" type gilded accents. The box has a circular "window" on the front revealing the label on the bottle. Inside the lid of the box is a small slot where the handkerchief is stored.

The silk chiffon handkerchief is printed with the woodcut image usually found on the presentation box for Mitsouko and L'Heure Bleue parfum.

The box is marked "Guerlain Copyright 1995".

Guerlain's Lotion Vegetale

Guerlain's Lotion Vegetale is a scented liquid hair groom to women,  as well as for men's heads and facial hair. The lotion vegetale was meant to give a lustrous, healthy finish and scent to the hair as well as making it soft. It was a watery, alcohol based (approximately 87° alcohol) hair tonic, usually mixed with glycerine and other components and available in several different fragrances.

Lotion vegetale was suggested to be used by women when curling their hair, if the ends of the hair are brittle. A woman was advised to pour a few drops into the palms of the hands and then rubbed onto the dry ends of the hair before rolling them in curlers. This would help make the ringlets soft and shining.

"Women apply Lotion Vegetale generously to the hair after a shampoo...to impart lasting scent and to stimulate the scalp. Men like it as an aftershave lotion and general grooming aid. In ten Guerlain fragrances: Liu, Shalimar, Vol de Nuit, L'Heure Bleue, Mitsouko, Jicky, Sous le Vent, Rue de la Paix, Vague Souvenir and Apres L'Ondee."

250 Year Anniversary of Guerlain - Mitsouko Flacon c1979

Special  Edition created for the 250 year anniversary of the House of Guerlain in 1979. Beautiful presentation of 8.5 oz (250ml) Mitsouko parfum in a Baccarat quadrilobe flacon, with interesting engraved label, and housed in the 1940s resurrected green box with the Art Nouveau gold tracery.

Robertet Factory Version of Guerlain's Mitsouko

Here is a vintage 1940s-1960s bottle (in a sealed box) of the Robertet Perfume Factory's version of Guerlain's famous Mitsouko perfume, found in an ebay auction. Robertet is a well known perfumery materials and flavor company going back to the mid 1800s. They sold versions of famous perfumes in the gift shop at their factory.

Please understand that this perfume was not made by Guerlain, but by the talented perfumers at Robertet. There is lots of info on Robertet on the internet so I won't post that here.

Guerlain Film Spray

Guerlain's Film Spray Body Lotion was a scented, pink, light moisturizing body lotion in spray form created in 1966 and sold until 1975. It was available in the following standard Guerlain scents: Shalimar, L'Heure Bleue, Jicky, Mitsouko and Chant D'Aromes.

Altered Glass Perfume Bottles

Occasionally one might come across an unusual colored perfume bottle. One might be inclined to think that this might have been a special limited edition or even perhaps a prototype. More than likely, the bottles have been artificially induced via radiation (sometimes done with the aid of a microwave or industrial good sterilizer). This would cause some glass to be a deep shade of purple or amber. from what I have read online, this appears to devalue a bottle, but some people collect these flacons for their aesthetic beauty rather than their investment value.

In the case of these Guerlain flacons, they have been intentionally artificially induced to an amber shade and older bottles are also artificially altered into the purple shade.

Please do not purchase these bottles in the hopes that it is "rare" or a "limited edition".

Guerlain Goutte Flacon Miniatures

The first Goutte mini bottles appeared in 1970 and were used until 1991. The bottles have undergone many changes (silkscreen uppercase, lowercase, different order ...) so to differentiate their years of creation, they were assigned a code. G8 bottles were for export to Japan, the G10 bottles were for U.S. exports.

The frosted and clear glass bottle is in the shape of an amphora with draped motifs and topped with a stopper molded in the shape of a rosebud. Some early bottles (1955) will have a gilded plastic rosebud screw top. Bottle made by both Baccarat and Pochet et du Courval. Shalimar was housed in the so-called Flacon de Guerre (Wartime Bottle) from 1938-1945.

Mitsouko Fleur de Lotus c2009

Mitsouko Fleur de Lotus: Created in 2009 by Jean Paul Guerlain, a fragrant picture of a Japanese woman, Mitsouko, was presented with a new fragrance by the house of Guerlain - Mitsouko Fleur de Lotus.

“Mitsouko is really a masterpiece,” says Jean-Paul Guerlain, “I did not want to betray my grandfather’s, so I added a freshness to the scent with spices and white musk to give a modernity to it without changing the original scent.”

Mitsouko: (Mystery) Created by Jacques Guerlain in 1919. The creation of Mitsouko was inspired by the heroine of Claude Farrčre's novel 'La bataille', a story of an impossible love between Mitsouko, the wife of Japanese Admiral Togo, and a British officer. The story takes place in 1905, during the war between Russia and Japan. Both men went to war, and Mitsouko, hiding her feelings with dignity, waits for the outcome of the battle to discover which of the two men will come back to her and be her companion.
